Tyco Center of Excellence

Johnson Controls, formerly Tyco Fire Protection Products

In expressing their vision to Somerville about their new Center of Excellence, Tyco management put forth two goals for the project. First, they wanted to create a spacious and dynamic common workspace for its employees, who were previously housed in two separate aging and undersized buildings. Second, they wanted to create a facility that made a tangible visual statement to customers that Tyco is an innovative and exciting company that makes leading-edge products. The Somerville team responded with a LEED-accredited design that promotes imagination and collaboration, with a modern flair informed by the Age of Technology. This 35,000 square foot Engineering and R&D facility features three laboratories, a model shop and a third-floor observation/conference room overlooking an expansive burn-and-test field.
