Architectural Drafter

The Architectural Drafter creates technical drawings that contain specific information on how to build a structure, the dimensions of the project and what materials are required to build the structure.  Drafters have the ability to create schematics that can be viewed, printed, or programmed directly into building information modeling (BIM) systems.


The Architectural Drafter is responsible for:

  • Designing plans using computer-aided design and drafting (REVIT) software
  • Working from rough sketches and specifications created by engineers and architects
  • Adding details to architectural plans from their knowledge of building techniques
  • Preparing multiple versions of designs for review by engineers and architects
  • Specifying dimensions, materials, and procedures
  • Working collaboratively with engineers and architects

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of an Associate Degree in Architectural Technology from an accredited technical college​
  • Comprehension of 3-D modeling systems
  • Experience in REVIT and BIM systems
  • Above average oral and written communication
  • Excellent teamwork and organizational skills
  • Computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment
