Bob Hardy
Senior Mechanical Project Engineer

From HVAC and plumbing to fire protection and more, Bob Hardy is an engineer who can just about do it all. Yet even he once faced a situation in which he felt he just could not do enough… the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. As part of a team of engineers contracted out to the Department of Homeland Security, Bob was assigned the task of reviewing and rebuilding every structure related to New Orleans’ criminal justice system—courts, prisons, office spaces and more. The devastation he witnessed was overwhelming. But his determination to help was even more powerful. Throughout his tour, he was challenged to use all his skills in new and creative ways to restore demolished facilities to usability. And he came away an even better engineer for the experience. Today, Bob uses all of his 42 years of experience to design essential systems for Somerville clients in all types of industries, from educational and industrial to commercial and healthcare. Beyond design, his responsibilities include system selection, equipment selection, load calculations and more. Given all he’s seen and done, one thing’s for sure. Bob is not one to back down from a challenge, no matter what size.
