Lillian Mendez
Project Architect / Specifications Writer

Lillian Mendez’s architectural knowledge and experience has geographical range, runs the spectrum of project types and scopes, and spans a diversity of projects through the planning, design, documentation and construction phases, to client closeout and occupation.

With more than 20 years of experience, Lillian has led, managed and collaborated on projects of varying complexity and magnitude, from inception through completion, on a client-based timeline, budget and scope. Her talents are wide-ranging and reach beyond her title of specification writer and project architect.

She began her career in New York City where she was born and raised, but with a visit to Iowa, she quickly became a Midwestern girl. In Iowa, she continued community outreach and volunteer work, including assisting with disaster relief efforts by organizing donations and helping with cleanup of the 2013 Oklahoma tornado. She now calls Wisconsin home and continues to thrive at Somerville in a profession that embraces her interests and artistic talent, allowing her to continue to grow and progress personally and professionally. To her, the key to good design is meeting a client’s expectations while adding positively to the community and its surroundings.

She credits a mentor early in her career with instilling in her the value of mentoring as an integral part of any learning process. Lillian considers architecture an evolving profession, constantly challenging those within it to grow and learn. Her already broad experience on a diverse range of projects isn’t stopping her from continuing to evolve along with the industry.
