Mike Leibham, PE
Senior Electrical Project Engineer
It’s not uncommon in the workplace: You learn a set of skills in a critical category of work – say, electrical engineering in health care settings – and you begin to be assigned those projects, further sharpening those skills. Soon you are a go-to resource in that space. As your career develops and your portfolio grows, so does your expertise, and eventually, you become a specialist of sorts.
So went the path of Mike, whose experience is vast and varied, with exceptional contributions in healthcare design. Years of experience have allowed Mike to build a base of knowledge as well as a broad perspective, giving him both versatility and depth.
Mike's role typically includes site verification of the building’s electrical system, lighting & control design, control power design, fire alarm system design, and telecommunication/structured wiring designs required for facility modifications. With over 30 years of award-winning experience in the programming, planning, and designing of electrical and telecommunication systems, Mike applies his extensive portfolio of work to each project assignment.
At the end of the day, though, relationships are at the heart of the work, and Mike is, first and foremost, a people person.
Drawn to Somerville’s genuine culture of care for their clients and their team, Mike came on board as a bit of a veteran in the industry and sees his role as more of a mentor to younger staff, bringing an experienced approach and a career of successful projects – including design of the lighting for the bridges along the Fox River in the city of Green Bay, a very visible contribution to his community. Mike loves complex projects and creating “wow” spaces for clients.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Mike moved first to the Fox Valley and then to the Green Bay area for job opportunities. Today his children and grandchildren are no more than a few hours away, and he enjoys the chance to just “play.” For him, that might mean hiking, golfing or playing the drums, or it may be watching the little ones zoom around his living room.
