About the Position

We seek an individual with a collaborative spirit who can seamlessly work together with other top-talented designers, drafters, in-house engineering teams, consultants, and contractors to advance our projects. Somerville architects are problem solvers who demonstrate strong critical-thinking abilities, great attention to detail, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. This is a full-time, in-office position.

Your role will involve:

    • Collaborating with and mentoring designers and drafters
    • Performing building assessments and writing reports
    • Planning and executing projects from inception through completion on schedule and within budget
    • Utilizing BIM software and visualization methods
    • Incorporating best practices and sustainability strategies into designs
    • Ensuring projects meet client expectations and code requirements
    • Coordinating with consultants and contractors
    • Reviewing specifications
    • Performing field observation, overseeing construction administration, and ensuring adherence to design intent
    • Reviewing submittals, pay requests, change orders, etc.
    • Managing project close-out and ensuring successful project delivery
    • Presenting to clients and the public
    • Responsible for project profitability and client maintenance

Qualifications

Experience:

    • Ten+ years of architectural experience working on projects in healthcare, education, community, or commercial markets
    • A strong portfolio of work, including award-winning projects

Technical Knowledge:

    • Experience with Revit, BIM software, and Bluebeam preferred

Education:

    • Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture
    • Licensed with 10+ years of experience
    • LEED accreditation preferred

    • Excellent communication, writing, and public speaking/presentation skills
    • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking abilities
