What some would consider an average workday, Matt Honold sees as an opportunity to further hone his skills. Where some might see a standard client interaction, Matt files away new information, building his base of architectural knowledge and ideas. Always learning.
The world of architecture is ever changing, inspiring Somerville to lead new trends and embark upon innovative design techniques. That’s what Matt relishes about each workday, using every new experience to inform his skills and knowledge. Matt’s well-rounded talents are a combination of his first-class education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the practical nature of hands-on work in over 10 years in the industry. Even with all that in his arsenal, he is eager to learn more and approaches every new project with that natural curiosity. It’s both what he enjoys about the work and what makes him uniquely qualified to do it.
Matt’s active outdoors life, community contributions through church and nonprofit organizations, and penchant for travel speaks to that nature. Each time he goes outside his comfort zone, it adds to the experience he can relate to in his day-to-day projects. Matt is thrilled to be a part of a multi-disciplinary firm with expertise in everything from architecture and interior design to mechanical, electrical and plumbing design. And he appreciates that Somerville offers the balance that comes with institutional knowledge of long-term employees and the fresh set of eyes offered by those just starting out in the industry. Matt values that dichotomy that makes Somerville exceptional in the world of architecture and design: a strong history paired with a bright future.
