Oconto Falls Middle School

OCONTO FALLS SCHOOL DISTRICT

Situated on a 90+ acre campus, the new Oconto Falls Middle School is designed with growth and innovation in mind. The 90,289-square-foot facility serves 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, with future expansion plans for a dedicated 5th-grade wing. Every detail supports a vibrant learning environment designed to evolve with students and staff.

The academic spaces feature a two-story classroom wing organized into flexible pods, each with science classrooms/labs and special education spaces on every level. Each pod includes collaboration zones with lockers, fostering teamwork and accessibility. The first floor also houses a tech ed shop with a paint room, a tech ed lab, an agricultural lab, and a foods lab, along with additional special education support rooms including speech.

Creative and performance spaces are equally impressive, with a light-filled art studio, a large band/orchestra space, and a choral classroom with adjacent practice rooms and instrument storage. The library media center (LMC) is a bright, inviting hub featuring a bold “Panthers” graphic that illuminates at night, and has an adjacent collaboration room. Office spaces are thoughtfully designed for security and functionality, including secure entrances, workrooms, nurse and SRO offices, conference rooms, and private offices. Ample storage is strategically placed throughout the building to support teachers and staff.

Athletic and wellness areas include a full competition gym with two cross courts, a multipurpose room for wrestling and dance, and a dedicated fitness center. These amenities, paired with vibrant environmental graphics and bold Panther colors, foster school spirit while promoting student engagement and a sense of belonging.

The referendum that funded this project also supported upgrades to secure entrances and roof repairs across all district schools. Somerville’s team provided architectural, interior, and environmental graphic design services, ensuring the new middle school reflects a commitment to safety, collaboration, and educational excellence.
