Ryan Milkie
Architectural Drafter

Ryan Milkie may not be a kid anymore, but he still loves to admire architecture while peering out the window on a car ride.

That’s when his interest in architecture was first piqued – with his nose pressed against the car window traveling through Milwaukee or Chicago as a kid. Ryan would soak in the tall, uniquely designed structures that drew his eye and spurred his interest in the profession.

It wasn’t until he discovered Somerville that he became a part of creating those structures in his own hometown.

As an architectural drafter, Ryan is responsible for bringing project designs to life in 3-D models, arranging the work, creating plans and otherwise supporting the teams of architects and project managers. It’s a satisfying mix: on the one hand, logistical problem solving that creates spaces most beneficial to the people using them; on the other hand, a creative, artistic outlet for creating inspiring designs.

Ryan appreciates working alongside seasoned professionals in an environment that values all voices. He has found his ideas not only heard but incorporated into the work, while he absorbs the knowledge and expertise surrounding him. While making an impact on the work, he is sharpening his own skills of attention to detail, teamwork, strong work ethic and bold eye for design.

To Ryan, Somerville is the right fit, aligning with his appreciation for dynamic design that incorporates practicality and a budget-conscious approach, ensuring client satisfaction. He, too, values prioritizing relationships and finding the best fit for the client in a sustainable way so that projects live on and help them succeed.

Ryan married his high school sweetheart and appreciates being close to his hometown to pop over to his parents’ place for dinner or play some basketball with his brother a couple times a week. To Ryan, Wisconsin offers the best when it comes to camping, biking, frisbee and his other outdoor pursuits, and in his free time, Ryan continues to enjoy a life of admiring architecture – out the car window or at his desk right here at Somerville.
