Community Sports & Event Center

CITY OF MARINETTE

The City of Marinette looked to Somerville to evaluate their existing Civic Center and determine whether renovating the outdated facility, or building a new facility would be most beneficial to the Marinette community. Ultimately, it was decided that a new facility would provide the greatest opportunities, better serving the entire area from Marinette to Menominee, Michigan.
The new stand-alone 114,000 square foot indoor sports and events center has four main areas: a turf field, an ice arena, an expo hall and various support and ancillary spaces.

The 29,000 SF turf field allows for football, soccer, softball and baseball to be played indoors year round. Surrounding the field is a walking track and ample bleacher space for spectators.

The 28,000 SF ice arena can accommodate a full-size ice hockey sheet with seating for 500. Six locker rooms are located between the ice arena and expo hall for convenience of visitors.

The 27,000 SF expo hall is designed as a large multi-purpose, column-free space that can be arranged as four individual courts to play volleyball, basketball and tennis. This multi-purpose space can also be transformed to host larger expo events and political rallies.

The remainder of the building contains meeting rooms, offices, concessions, restrooms, party rooms and ample storage space.
