Horicon Regional Center
Moraine Park Technical College
Somerville partnered with Moraine Park Technical College to design a new 18,000-square-foot regional center in Horicon, expanding access to hands-on, career-focused education for MPTC students. Completed in summer 2024, the facility was developed as a dedicated regional hub, purpose-built to support fire training while also accommodating additional academic programs and future growth.
The building includes classrooms, specialized fire training labs, a fitness center, offices, and apparatus bays with a dedicated donning area to support firefighter training and readiness. The design also incorporates a dedicated props area for a fire training tower and a drafting pond to allow fire trucks to fill on site, creating a realistic and fully functional training environment.
Throughout the project, the design team balanced established Moraine Park Technical College branding with unique architectural features tailored to the Horicon campus, resulting in a facility that is both recognizable and distinctly local. Designed with flexibility and expansion in mind, the new regional center positions the college to grow its programs and continue serving students and the surrounding communities for years to come.
